Free Water Hardness Testing · ends October 31

The white buildup keeps coming back.

Hard water may be behind it. Start with a free water hardness test from Golden Rule and find out whether treatment makes sense for your home.

Serving the Wasatch Front, Logan to Provo.

You know the spots

  • Chalky white crust at the base of the kitchen faucet, back a week after you scrubbed it.
  • Shower glass that never quite looks clean no matter the squeegee.
  • A dishwasher that leaves film on everything, whichever detergent you try.

Why we test before we talk about anything else

Minerals in hard water leave deposits as the water dries. Most of the Wasatch Front runs hard, but how hard varies house to house, and the look of the buildup alone doesn't tell you the number. A test does, and the number decides whether a softener is even worth discussing.

What happens during the visit

  1. 1

We come to the house, no trip charge, and test your water at the tap.

  2. 2

You get the result explained in plain language: what the number means for fixtures, the water heater and appliances.

  3. 3

If treatment makes sense, we talk options and pricing. If it doesn't, we say so. The test isn't a sales pitch with a clipboard.

“Golden rule plumbing was out to my place right away. Brody fixed a bathroom sink water flow and installed a new faucet. Also replaced our water softener. He was so pleasant to work with, and very knowledgeable. Thanks for your help today!! Ruth Ruble”

FAQs

Questions, answered

What exactly gets tested?

Water hardness: the mineral content that causes scale and spots. It is not a drinking water safety analysis, and we won't pretend it is.

Is the visit free, or just the test?

Both. There's no trip charge for the visit and no charge for the test. You pay nothing unless you later decide to have work done, and that's a separate conversation.

Do I have to buy a softener?

No. Plenty of people take the number and do nothing for a year. Installing equipment is a separate decision, and it's yours.

I already have a softener. Is this still useful?

Yes. The test tells you whether the softener is keeping up or quietly falling behind, which is common with older units and changing water.

Will a softener remove the buildup that's already there?

It stops new scale from forming. Existing deposits still need to be cleaned off; we'll tell you honestly what to expect.

When does the free test end?

The date is on this page and it's firm. Request before then and the test is free.

Find out what's behind the buildup

Request the test, we'll call to confirm a window, and you'll have a real number instead of a guess.
