Air quality

The air you can actually control

When the inversion settles over the valley, the air inside your house is the air you have a say in. Better filtration and the right humidity, built onto the heating system you already own.

What we do

Two upgrades that earn their keep

Indoor air is mostly a winter problem here. Inversions trap fine particulate in the valley for days at a time, furnaces run around the clock and the air they push is bone dry. Your system already moves every bit of air in the house several times an hour. These upgrades make each pass count.

Furnace filter upgrades

A deeper media filter catches far more of what winter traps in the valley air, and it does it without choking your blower the way an overloaded one-inch filter does. We size it to your system.

Whole-home humidifiers

Utah winter air is desert dry. A humidifier mounted on the furnace feeds the whole house: less static, fewer cracked lips and wood floors that stop gapping by February.

Filter checks with every system check

Every HVAC system check includes the filter setup, so Gold Club membership means someone is already watching this for you twice a year.

FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

Does inversion air actually get inside the house?

Some of it, yes. Houses breathe, and outdoor air works its way in through doors, windows and the envelope itself. You can't seal it out completely, but the air that circulates through your furnace passes through a filter, and a better filter pulls more fine particulate out of every pass.

What filter should I run during inversion season?

A higher MERV rating catches finer particles, but go too high and the blower strains against it, which costs efficiency and wears parts. The right answer depends on your system. We check the filter setup during every HVAC system check and will tell you what your blower can handle.

How often should I change filters in winter?

Check monthly when the furnace is running daily, and more often during a long inversion stretch. A one-inch filter working through bad-air weeks can load up in half its usual life. If you're on a thicker media filter, you get months instead of weeks.

Will a whole-home humidifier cause mold?

Set correctly, no. A humidistat holds the house at a target level, generally in the 30 to 40 percent range in winter, well below where condensation and mold become a risk. The problems come from set-and-forget units nobody adjusts, which is part of the installation conversation we have with you.
